Artem Lyapin Works At Ruarts Foundation
Until November 3, 2024, the Ruarts Foundation is hosting an exhibition titled Threads, featuring the work of gallery artist Artem Lyapin. The red thread, as an architectural solution, symbolically connects three floors of the exhibition, which showcases works by 39 artists united by the use of textile techniques.

The exhibition includes a triptych made of lace, created with golden thread. The three lace works are united by the theme A Ray of Sunlight Pierces a Family Feast. The artist was inspired to create this piece by the Itelmen myth about Kutkh.
"The theme A Ray of Sunlight Pierces a Family Feast first came to me when I emerged from the Kursky railway station metro and saw two crows feasting. As we know, crows are scavengers, and we can imagine what that feast looked like. I thought of it as a family gathering. They appeared like a loving couple sharing the first slice of cake at a wedding feast. Later, I recalled the tales about the crow Kutkh. For the Itelmen, the indigenous people of the Kamchatka Peninsula, Kutkh is the creator and demiurge — an embodiment of the spirit of the Crow."
"In one of the texts, it is told how during the whale festival, a slain whale refused to return home, and the parents of little Kutkh left the celebration, leaving him a piece of meat, a bow, and arrows so he could learn to provide for himself. Similarly, Dawn left her little daughter Miti, giving her a trap for small animals. Both believed themselves to be the only people on earth. Kutkh learned to hunt deer with a bow and prepare food for himself. One day, while hunting, he met Miti and made her his wife."
