Polina Rukavichkina, Oleg Savunov
Booth 4
15.05 - 18.05.2025
At the Contour.Photo art fair, Flor et Lavr Gallery presents works by two artists working in the medium of photography — Polina Rukavichkina and Oleg Savunov. Both projects explore the genius loci — the spirit of a place — each through a distinct lens.
Polina Rukavichkina showcases a fragment of a new series started in the summer of 2024. At the core of her work is the theme of monotonous manual labor, in which the sense of time and self begins to dissolve, and the figure of the sculptor, caught between an official style and personal reality. The project touches on themes of escapism, the dissolution of identity through repetition, and the clash of multiple realities. (The project was produced with the support of Futuro Gallery and the Center 800.)
Oleg Savunov, in turn, returns to the image of his native St. Petersburg, seen anew after three years of separation. In this recently initiated series, the artist’s gaze captures the tension between the city’s enduring myths, suspended between two clichés — the “cultural capital” and the “city built on bones.”
