Artem Lyapin
Artem’s practice is based on research into Siberian folklore and traditions. Synthesizing this knowledge, the author creates outsider characters and develops fairy-tale plots for them, also based on personal experience. His work in the theater has endowed the author with a unique perspective, so that each of his exhibition projects resembles stage sets.
Artem Lyapin uses a wide range of challenging materials. Among other artists, the choice of techniques stands out, which he learned independently: lace making, carpet weaving, and metalworking. It is difficult to classify Artem into any existing direction of contemporary art, so the author has adapted the term "Folk-Art-Brut" for his practice.
