Valery Bytka
Valery Bytka is a Petersburg sculptor of Moldovan origin, as he describes himself. He grew up in Chișinău and absorbed Moldovan traditions from a very young age. He received an education as a drama director at the Leningrad State Institute of Culture and dedicated several years to theater.
The craftsmanship of Moldovan stone carvers, particularly the traditional carved gravestones, captivated him at a young age and became the impetus for mastering this art. The future sculptor, who had never before held stone-carving tools, took lessons from Petersburg sculptor Dmitry Verdiyan. Since those lessons, and for the past thirty years, Bytka has devoted himself to sculpture.

Valery’s works are held in private collections in Russia and abroad, as well as in the collection of the State Russian Museum.
